Basement and Beer
Posted Thursday, October 21, 2004, 9:31 am

Last night, John and Terri and I worked on the basement.  The basement will be the dance floor, drink central, and the place with the most couches and chairs.  We hung some lights, put up a few props, and set up the lights in the stairwell.  Gonna work on getting more outlets down there and some sound tonight.  It's nice having a basement that I can set up ahead of time.

In related news, which beer should I get?

Some Party Info

I sent out the first batch of evites this afternoon.  If you didn't get one, never fear - it's an open invitation, so you can just click here and join the fun.

As usual, anyone coming to the party is welcome to stay the night.  We have 2 guest bedrooms and an office without a bed, as well as a super-big-couch and a regular one.  Ample floorspace is also available.  For those of you who are too good for that, there is a Comfort Inn, a Days Inn, and a Ramada about 6 miles down the road.

Wear a costume - no exceptions!
Watch the carpet - it's a new house.
Habba enjoy HalloBean.

Should I Bring Something?
Not required.  But if you really want to, feel free to bring along a bottle of wine or liquor.

Steve and I started getting out HalloBean stuff last night.  We assembled a few props and took a little inventory.  I've got some repair work to do on some of the Bucky Skeletons and some touch-up to do on a few motorized props.  I am trying to decide whether or not to put some effort into new props using the pneumatic stuff I built last November.

At any rate, the basement is now HalloBean central, with random whatnots laying all over the place.  Ahh yes, it's the most, wonderful time, of the year.

Here is a pic I made of myself bac in 1996.  It's when webcams were expensive and greyscale.  My employer (ThePoint of had one and I liked playing with it.  I thought this one belonged on the HalloBean page.

Speaking of HalloBean... I haven't started thinking about it too much yet this year.  It's still on, rest assured, even though it will be only 2 weeks before my wedding.  In a few weeks, once we have a few more wedding details nailed down, I hope to dig into the planning of this year's bash.

So... I have to ask.  Who is gonna make a tron costume?

No, not Hawaii, Hallobean!  Since I just had an offer accepted on a new house, my mind has begun churning with ideas for Hallobean 5.0.  I'll have a basement for the first time ever, and that will be awesome.  So again, save the date:

When: Saturday, October 30, 2004, 6pm.
Where: My new house in New Albany.

I know it'll a haul for Indy-folk, but I'm hoping that won't stop all of you.  You can make a weekend of it... come down Friday and hang out in Louisville, head to the Boat, or help me set up :)   There will be plenty of spots to crash, and inexpensive hotel options nearby.  More deets to follow.

Here are a few pictures from HalloBean which were donated by others.  I will be adding more soon as well as getting a better thumbnail viewer.  Enjoy.

The Weather for Friday looks awesome.  It should be relatively warm, without little or no chance for rain.  See for yourself.  Get your costumes ready, and I'll see you Friday!

For the first 8-10 cars that arrive, there will be parking available in my driveway, Koji's driveway, and on the street.  Rather than blocking the entire neighborhood with cars on the street shoulders, we have gotten permission to use the parking lot behind my house.  The entrance for that lot is one turn east of the turn into Whitaker Valley (where I live).  You can park there and then walk around to the front of my house or to the back door, whichever you wish.  Here is a map:

If you have questions, call me at 812-987-3563 or Stef at 317-496-7984.

I am in the process of sending out Evites today.  From what I can tell, the "view map" part of the evite doesn't work very well, so if you need directions, see below.  Please RSVP when you know whether or not you can come.  Drop me a line if you want to be a party coordinator of any kind (i.e help me out) or if you have an suggestions, requests, or comments.  If you haven't recieved an Evite, and you want to come or you think I may have left you off the list, let me know!

Directions from the North:

Get on I-65S, and take the first exit south of I-465 (Exit 103, Southport).  Turn left off of the exit and continue to the first stoplight, which is Emmerson Ave.  Turn right onto Emmerson and continue to the light at Stop 11 Rd., about 1 mile.  Turn right on Stop 11, go about 1/4 mile, then turn left into Whitaker Valley.  Make an immediate left, then another left, then I am the 3rd house on the left.

Directions from the South:

Get on I-65N and exit at County Line Rd. (Exit 101).  Turn left off of the exit and continute to the light at Emmerson Ave.  Turn right onto Emmerson and continue to the light at Stop 11 Rd., about 1 mile.  Turn left onto Stop 11, go about 1/4 mile, then turn left into Whitaker Valley.  Make an immediate left, then another left, then I am the 3rd house on the left.

Havent really figured this one out yet.  My subdivision is next to an Elementary school and behind an office complex, so I think people should be able to park in those spots and walk to my house.  There will be limited parking along the street for early birds.  More on this later - check back for updates!
